Please consider submitting an abstract to our AGU session, S027: Seismic Imaging from Crust to Core: Understanding Ancient and Contemporary Processes. We invite contributions that image the Earth or other planets at any scale—ranging from the near-surface to planetary interiors—using any method. We also seek contributions that use novel methods or datasets to constrain Earth structure.

Abstract: Seismic imaging is a key tool for understanding subsurface processes, often providing a pivotal lens into tectonic processes in the near-surface and crust as well as planetary-scale dynamics in the mantle and core. Technical advances in methodologies ranging from receiver functions and autocorrelations to earthquake and ambient noise tomography provide key constraints on geologic and tectonic processes in the Earth and other planets. Novel sensing techniques such as large-N nodal arrays, ocean bottom seismometers, and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) have provided key resolution in areas where traditional seismic sensors are sparse or difficult to install. We invite research on all spatial and temporal scales that uses seismic imaging to study the subsurface. We invite presentations using novel techniques or datasets and research on the application of seismic imaging models to related fields.
