[apologies for cross-postings]
Dear EarthScope community,
Some time ago, Frontiers approached me to inquire whether I'd have a proposal for a Special volume/Collection that could be suitable for a section of Frontiers in Earth Science. I actually happened to have an idea taking form in the aftermath of the long transformations that any science field is witnessing in this rather momentous early 21st century. With many other endeavours in the meantime, eventually, here we are. Together with my co-guest Editors (Maria Alzira Pimenta Dinis, Maria Angela Capello de Passalacqua, Ph.D. and Philip Ringrose), I am, thus, very pleased to invite any interested scholars and groups to contribute to this pretty broad scope, which aims to capture examples across the geophysical spectrum that contribute to understanding- the constituents of hazards and effects (especially as faced in their multiplicity), - complexities (across societies and systems) and proposals for solutions, and- how cross-disciplinarity can powerfully help to redesign the overly precious bonds among resources and life, time (of processes) and space (for life).
Deadline for abstract submission: 31 October 2026
Deadline for final submission: 28 February 2027
Thank you for your time,
Umberto (on behalf of the Editorial team)
