Dear colleagues,

I’m writing with a quick reminder that the registration deadline for the 2023 Interior of the Earth Gordon Research Conference (GRC) and associated Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) is approaching soon. The meetings will be held June 17-18 (GRS) and June 18-23 (GRC) at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. The theme of the 2023 GRC is “Material Properties of the Mantle and Core and their Constraints, Causes, and Consequences for Earth Evolution.” The GRC will be preceded by GRS on the theme of “Evolution of the Interior Structure of Earth from the Magma Ocean Stage to the Present.” The GRS provides a unique forum for doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work and to build collaborative relationships with their peers.

The registration deadline for both meetings is May 28, 2023. If you are planning to attend the meeting, please apply/register as soon as you can - having a good sense of the numbers will help us with the final stages of the conference planning.

Thanks to a generous grant from the National Science Foundation, we have funds available to cover registration costs (including housing and meals) for early career participants. If you would like to request funding support, please email me directly (mauree...@yale.edu). We will continue to accept funding requests until all the funds have been allocated.

Meeting descriptions, along with the planned program for the GRC, can be found below.

Further information on the conference and a link to register can be found at https://www.grc.org/interior-of-the-earth-conference/2023/ (GRC) and https://www.grc.org/interior-of-the-earth-grs-conference/2023/ (GRS). You can also feel free to contact me directly with any questions. Please feel free to forward this message to students and colleagues who may be interested.

If you’ve attended the GRC in the past but are on the fence about attending this time around, please keep in mind that the GRC organization requires us to have a minimum of 110 registrants for the conference to continue in the future - so, come on down and help us make the 2023 edition of the conference a success!

Best,
Maureen Long (with co-chairs Karen Fischer, Chhavi Jain, and Jie Deng)
