Dear colleagues,

We invite you to submit an abstract to our session at the 2026 AGU Fall Meeting (7–11 December 2026, San Francisco): "Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Water-Driven Deep-Surface Coupling: Northeast Asia as a Natural Laboratory."

This session highlights the role of water in deep-surface coupling, using Northeast Asia — Japan, Korea, and China — as a natural laboratory, where water-driven dynamics are exceptionally active from the trench to the deep continental interior. We welcome interdisciplinary contributions spanning seismology, geochemistry, petrology, marine geology, paleomagnetism, and geodynamics, and especially encourage studies linking deep-Earth processes to surface phenomena.

Invited speakers: Jianfeng Yang (IGGCAS) and Dapeng Zhao (Tohoku University)

Conveners: Changyeol Lee (Yonsei), Younghee Kim (SNU), Nestor Cerpa (Géosciences Montpellier), Hyunwoo Lee (SNU), Hwaju Lee (SNU), Jaehoon Lee (Yonsei)

Abstract deadline: Wednesday, 5 August 2026 (23:59 EDT)

We look forward to your contributions.

Best regards,
The Conveners
