EARS Retirement Announcement
After over a decade of service, the EarthScope Automated Receiver Survey (EARS) data product will be retired. Developed by H. Philip Crotwell and Thomas J. Owens from the University of South Carolina, EARS initially aimed to estimate crustal thickness and Vp/Vs ratios across the continental United States, utilizing the IRIS DMC waveform archive. Due to its high level of automation and success, the scope of EARS was extended to encompass all stations within the expansive IRIS DMC waveform archive.

As of June 30th, we will cease the automated generation of receiver functions. All data up to July 2024, including over 250,000 receiver functions and H-K values for more than 2,500 stations from 133 networks globally will then be transferred to the cloud. Details on accessing data post-migration will be provided in due course.
