I’m looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Fellow to join me at the Research School of the Earth Sciences at the Australian National University as part of the newly funded ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science (COMBS).
You’ll work on the deployment, acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of large Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) datasets, advancing our seismic imaging research. You'll also be developing technical advances using optical frequency combs (the world's most accurate measurement tool) with the goal of expanding the capability of our strong field-based seismic imaging research. Ultimately, we hope these new technology innovations will allow us to better understand of Earth’s structure and evolution using bespoke seismic tools.
Data and field work opportunities in the Outback of Australia, the South Island of New Zealand, urban Melbourne and many other locations!
Our ideal candidate has:
- Strong track record in Earth sciences, seismology, geophysics, or related fields
- Experience with DAS data for observational seismology
- Interest in participating and designing field-based DAS experiments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Salary package: $82,936 - $128,026 per annum plus 17% superannuation (retirement contributions) + 5-weeks paid annual leave and many other benefits
