Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite submissions for a special session on “Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) in Ocean Acoustics,” which will be part of the 188th meeting of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), to be held in New Orleans from May 18–23, 2025. This session, organized by Shima Abadi (ab...@uw.edu) and myself (lea.bo...@cornell.edu), aims to explore advancements in DAS technology for ocean acoustics applications.
Session
Scope:
Distributed
Acoustic Sensing (DAS) has demonstrated significant potential in detecting water-borne acoustic sounds, from ship noise and active geophysical sounds to whale vocalizations. We are seeking contributions that advance the current understanding of DAS in ocean
acoustics and encourage the community to share their research findings, innovative methodologies, and relevant case studies.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Advances in DAS methodologies and data processing for ocean applications
Case studies on DAS applications in marine environmental and anthropic monitoring
DAS-based approaches for bioacoustics
Applications and challenges of DAS
Important Dates:
Early Submission for International Participants (for funding/visa purposes): November 18, 2024
Abstract Submission Deadline: January 6, 2025
Notifications of acceptance will be provided shortly after the submission deadline.
Note that ASA offers financial subsidies such as:
Student transportation subsidies
Young investigator travel grant
Dependent care subsidies
Early career travel support award
as well as students and young presenters paper awards.
We look forward to your contributions and to an engaging session in New Orleans!
Best
regards,
Shima
