Hello :)

I am having trouble with a Typhoon heating element. Each time I get to a temperature around 100 degrees Celsius the earth switch on my DB trips.

I have followed the instructions here (https://docs.dyzedesign.com/typhoon.html#dehumidifying-maintenance-routine) for dehumidifying the elements. I also tried drying it out in a small printer with the bed at 80 degrees. Unfortunately the problem still persists.

The hot end was used two or three years ago. It looks like the nozzle might have bumped into something and bent slightly. And perhaps that has caused some plastic to leak through around the coiled elements. Could this be the cause of the issue? See pictures below.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for trying the dehumidifying procedure.

It's possible that the insulation is showing signs of wear, depending on how many hours the heaters have been used.

You can contact our sales team to purchase a replacement heaters or heat core, or you can send it to us for refurbishment.

Best,

Andy

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your response. I would be disappointed if the insulation has already worn out. The heaters only have about 200 hours use on them.

Unfortunately we cannot afford to send the parts back to you. I might try getting a new coil made locally (Cape Town South Africa).

Regards
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

We understand your concerns regarding the insulation wear and the cost of sending the parts back. We did our best to find a reliable supplier for the heater elements, but at this size and power, it's a known challenge.

Please let us know if you require any assistance with sourcing a new coil locally. We would be happy to share further details, as most of the necessary information is already engraved on the coil heater itself.

Regards,

Andy
