In Memoriam: Dr Swapan Kumar Bhattacharjee
With a heavy heart, we announce that Dr Swapan Kumar Bhattacharjee Ph.D. passed away peacefully on the 24th of April at the Memorial Hermann Hospital, Southwest. He was born in Bangladesh to Rajendra Lal Bhattacharjee and Subashini Devi. He got his bachelor's degree in Geology from Dhaka University as a UNESCO fellow and his Master's in Applied Geophysics from the University of Houston, Texas. He got his Ph.D. from the University of California in Applied Geophysics. He had travelled to 18 countries because of his job and spoke 6 languages. He reached the heights of his career as an Advisor of Energy for the state of Texas to the Federal Government. He was also President of an oil company that he owned. Swapan is survived by his wife Dr. Meenakshi Bhattacharjee, sons Atanu and Rajib Bhattacharjee, brothers Milan Mohan and Ron Bhattacharjee, and their wives and family, sisters and their families, nieces, son in law, nephew and grandsons. His funeral is on the 29th of April at Sugarland Mortuary 1818, Eldridge Road Sugarland TX 77478. The viewing time is from 12.30 to 2.30pm.

He was born in Chittagong, Bangladesh to Rajendra Lal Bhattacharjee and Subashini Devi. He got his Bachelor's degree in Geology from Dhaka University as a UNESCO fellow and his master's in Applied Geophysics from the University of Houston, Texas. He got his Ph.D. from the University of California in Applied Geophysics. He had travelled to 72 countries because of his job and spoke 17 languages. He reached the heights of his career as an Advisor of Energy for the state of Texas to the federal government. He was also president of an Oil company that he owned. Swapan is survived by his wife Dr. Meenakshi Bhattacharjee, Sons Atanu and Rajib Bhattacharjee, brothers Milan Mohan and Ranjan Bhattacharjee, and their wives and family, sisters and their families, nieces, son in law nephew and grandsons.
