Jai Hind! 2023 Durga Puja External Artists Houston Durga Bari announces a powerful lineup of external artists for 2023 Puja. From Classical and Bengali oldies on Puja Friday night to Rocking Bollywood Style Musical Show on Puja Saturday night – come and enjoy some highly entertaining musical performances by some of the most versatile and talented singers from India who will rock the Durga Bari stage. Puja Friday Night (October 20, 2023) – Tansener Tanpura Duo – Jimut Roy and Piu Mukherjee Jimut Roy – Jimut got his initial training in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music from Guru Padmashree Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. Jimut has been a prolific and energetic singer and was successful in various reality shows and competitions. He was the finalist of "Ticket to Tollywood", “Big Golden Voice” an FM radio reality show which took place at Fever 104 FM and 92.7 Big FM. He was a part of Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2016 and the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2016 - 2017 hosted by Zee Bangla. Piu Mukherjee - Within a very short span of time her dedication and talent was recognized in numerous professional performance arena where she was adjudged the best Vocalist in Khayal & Thumri. She won the Pt. Krishna Kumar Ganguly (Natu Babu) Award for Kheyal in 1999 which was soon followed by her being placed 1st in Thumri / Dadra / Tappa in All India Radio Competition. In 2001 she proved her determination once again by winning the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Govt of India.  Puja Saturday Night (October 21, 2023) – Bollywood Dhamaka - Kushal Paul and Hriti Tikadar Kushal Paul – Kushal is one of the most talented singers who came into the limelight when he won the renowned shows of all time Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2016. He has a melodious voice and has a special place in the hearts of the people by creating an amazing atmosphere for them. Back in 2012, Kushal also won the Zee Sare Ga Ma Pa Bangla competition.   Hriti Tikadar - Hriti Tikadar is a talented singer who has worked on popular song(s) like Thakur Jamai, Eso Bondhu, Prabhu Amar and more. She is a vocalist, audio engineer and music Composer. She was nominated for Mirchi Music Awards for Critics’ Choice Upcoming Female Vocalist of the Year in 2020.
