In Memoriam: Smt. Ratna Sinha

[September 16th, 1968 - April 15, 2026]

With deep love and reverence, we announce the passing of Ratna Sinha - a courageous warrior, a devoted mother and a woman whose love for life and community was a quiet testament to kindness, devotion and grace. She departed for her heavenly abode on April 15th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of selfless love and affection which will be cherished by all the lives she has touched and continue to persevere amongst all who knew her.

For over four years, Ratna fought a rare and aggressive cancer with extraordinary courage and unwavering strength. She faced every challenge with dignity, never losing her spirit, her compassion or her love for those around her. In every way that matters, she won - because she never stopped fighting, never stopped loving and never gave up, even in her hardest days.

Born in Kolkata, India, her life spanned continents and cultures: from South Korea, to Malaysia, to Calgary, Canada and finally to Katy, Texas, where she made her home. Yet it was not the places she lived that defined her - it was the warmth she brought to every one of them.

Born on September 16th, 1968 to her loving parents Ashish Kumar Ghosh and Bina Ghosh, she grew up surrounded by the values of family and faith that would define her life. On May 1st, 1988, she married the love of her life, Palash Sinha. Their enduring bond was one of deep affection, respect and companionship - a love that became the foundation of a beautiful family. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Palash, her sons Promit Sinha and Parnal Sinha, her daughter in law Anuka Sinha, her brother Samik Ghosh and mother Bina Ghosh alongside all those who were blessed to call her family.

A deeply spiritual woman, her faith was personal yet shared generously with others. Through her dedicated and tireless volunteering at the Houston Durgabari every week, she touched countless lives, nurturing tradition, devotion and togetherness. She was a quiet force of the community - known not for seeking recognition but for simply showing up, every single time, with an open heart and willing hands.

Ratna was known for her selfless nature, her boundless kindness and her unconditional love. She welcomed everyone she met with open arms regardless of culture or background and had a rare ability to make every person feel seen, valued and at home. She believed deeply in hospitality, compassion and the joy of human connection. Whether tending to her beloved garden, spending hours watching the birds and feeding them water and peanuts, sharing long heartfelt conversations with her sons and her brother, or offering a warm smile and cordial greeting to anyone who walked through her door - she brought grace and light into every moment.

She lived fully, loved deeply and gave selflessly. Her life was beautifully lived and richly blessed. She will be deeply missed by her family, her friends and the many lives she touched across the community - but her spirit, rooted in love, faith and kindness, will remain with us always.
