Dear Ryan,
Paul makes a good point, and it affects not only patrons of the opera’s Sunday matinees but also Saturday and Sunday matinee patrons of Broadway San Diego. Why drive them into Ace lots if the City can generate revenue from four-hour meters? I will share these thoughts with colleagues for further input.
Sincerely,
Peter Shavitz

Subject: Sunday downtown parking meters
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for taking my call about the importance of having four hour parking downtown on the blocks around the Civic Center (and maybe the Balboa Theater), IF parking meters will be working on Sundays.
Two hour parking is useless for Sunday matinee theater and concert-goers.
The meters will go to waste, because all performances go longer than two hours, so no one will park at them.
But they will use four hour meters, which will generate revenue (IF the city council insists on charging for parking on Sundays, downtown)
Thanks for passing this along to your colleagues and contact at the Downtown Partnership, and others of interest at downtown organizations.
I'm including Peter Shavitz, who I know at SD Opera, so he can share with his Opera colleagues for reaction, and to the generic Symphony and SD Theaters emails, who will hopefully contact you if they agree (or disagree) with my thoughts on this issue.
Sincerely,
Paul Krueger
