Hello Todoist API users and partners,
Some of you asked for more time to migrate your apps and integrations to the version 8 (also known as v8) of our Sync API, so we decided to change the removal date to the August 30th, one month after the initial proposal. 👍
Webhooks
We also want to emphasize that our webhooks will start returning v8 format only for every call after the removal of v7.
Until the removal date, we will be keeping older versions available in the webhooks version select box (https://todoist.com/app_console > [your integration] > Webhooks > Webhooks version) and you can manually go there and change your integration to v8 to work on the migration.
After August 30th, we will only have the v8 option in the webhooks version select box, and integrations will be automatically using it, so it's highly recommended to change your integration now and check the changes.
REST API
The REST API only has a subset of the features available in the Sync API with some additions (filters!). The Sync API is the one we use for all our official clients, but the REST API complements it and provides a good interface for other apps and integrations.
Now that both APIs are stable (no breaking changes, same deprecation process, documentation, etc.), feel free to choose whatever API matches your style. 😉
With the release of the REST API v1, we will be removing all the old URLs related to the beta version. If you're using the beta version of the REST API, please change your URLs to the v1 following our official documentation. Keep in mind that everything related to the beta version of the REST API will be removed along with the deprecation of v7 on August 30th.
URL changes
Now that we have the REST API, it makes sense to do some structural changes to the Sync API, so it becomes part of a unified platform.
From now on, we will have:
We will still support the old style for a while, which means they will not be removed along with v7.
With that said, we highly recommend you to use the new format as the documentation already reflects this change and the old endpoints are deprecated.
Please
contact us if you need any additional information about the APIs and how to migrate.
