Call for Papers: Advances in Non-Classical Mathematics

Special Issue of the Logic Journal of the IGPL

Following a successful and engaging symposium on non-classical mathematics (NCM) at CLMPST 2023 in Buenos Aires, we wish to advertise a call for papers on new advances in non-classical mathematics for a special issue of the Logic Journal of the IGPL with Oxford University Press, guest edited by Thomas Ferguson (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and Libor Behounek (University of Ostrava).

List of Topics

The themes of the special issue expand on those of the symposium, including philosophical or technical research on:

* alternative mathematical theories (e.g. restricted theories of arithmetic or alternative class theories)

* mathematics formulated on non-classical deductive bases (e.g. intuitionistic, relevant, or fuzzy logics)

* analyses and solutions to set-theoretical paradoxes

* non-Western or nontraditional theories of mathematics (e.g. indigenous mathematics, feminist critiques of mathematics)

* modal mathematics (e.g. epistemic arithmetic, modal set theory)

A broader description of possibilities can be found at the NCM website (http://www2.cs.cas.cz/~ncm/whatncm.php).

Submission Guidelines

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Contributions can touch on any of the above themes with a ceiling of roughly 25 pages; submissions will be peer-reviewed in accordance with the standards of OUP and the Logic Journal of the IGPL.

We welcome both contributions delivered in Buenos Aires and new research on the above themes. We especially welcome contributions from mathematicians, philosophers, and logicians belonging to underrepresented groups. The deadline for submissions will be: Wednesday, January 31st, 2024.

Submissions will be managed through EasyChair at the following link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aincm24

Publication

This will be a special issue of the Logic Journal of the IGPL published by Oxford University Press.
