Non-Classical Modal and Predicate Logics (NCMPL 2021)

November 23-26, 2021, Bochum, Germany (hybrid format)

https://sites.google.com/view/ncmpl2021/home
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NCMPL 2021 is a conference solely dedicated to modal and predicate
non-classical logics. The aim of the conference is to bring together
researchers in both pure and applied aspects of various branches of
non-classical logics, not only to present recent advances in their
particular fields, but mainly foster the exchange of ideas between
researchers focusing on (1) separate branches of non-classical logic and
(2) foundational and applied issues.

Trends in Logic XXI, Frontiers of connexive logic

December 6-8, 2021, Bochum, Germany (hybrid format)

https://sites.google.com/view/trendsinlogicxxi/home
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 21st Trends in Logic international conference will be held at Ruhr
University Bochum, Germany, from December 6-December 8, 2021 under the
title “Frontiers of connexive logic”. Modern connexive logic started in
the 1960s with seminal papers by Richard B. Angell and Storrs McCall.
Connexive logics are orthogonal to classical logic insofar as they
validate certain non-theorems of classical logic, namely

Aristotle's Theses: ~(~A => A), ~(A => ~A)
Boethius' Theses: (A => B)=> ~(A => ~B), (A => ~B) => ~(A => B)

Systems of connexive logic have been motivated by considerations on a
content connection between the antecedent and succedent of valid
implications and by applications that range from Aristotle's syllogistic
to Categorial Grammar and the study of causal implications. Surveys of
connexive logic can be found in:

S. McCall, "A History of Connexivity", in D.M. Gabbay et al. (eds.),
Handbook of the History of Logic. Volume 11. Logic: A History of its
Central Concepts, Amsterdam, Elsevier, 2012, pp. 415-449.

H. Wansing, "Connexive Logic", in Edward N. Zalta (ed.), The Stanford
Encyclopedia of Philosophy (Spring 2020 Edition).

In memory of Nuel Belnap

We are inviting submissions for a Special Issue of Studia Logica in
memory of Nuel Belnap (1930–2024). Belnap made seminal contributions to
logic and many areas of philosophy, including many-valued logic, proof
theory, relevance logic, temporal logic, spatio-temporal indeterminism,
and the logic of agency. Over his long career he provided inspiration
and support for several generations of logicians, and many of his papers
were published in Studia Logica.

For the obituary on the Pittsburgh Department's website, see here:
https://www.philosophy.pitt.edu/nuel-d-belnap-jr

We particularly invite papers that are related to, or inspired by, Nuel
Belnap's work. They should also address a topic in logic or philosophy
that falls within the journal’s scope. Submitted paper will be subject
to the usual peer-reviewing procedure of Studia Logica. The Special
Issue will be edited by Thomas Müller (Konstanz), Tomasz Placek
(Jagiellonian University Kraków), and Heinrich Wansing (Bochum), who are
among Belnap’s many long-time collaborators and coauthors.

The editorial manager submission page for Studia Logica can be accessed
via this link: https://www.editorialmanager.com/stud/

Please make sure to submit your paper with the article type "Special
issue of Studia Logica in memory of Nuel Belnap (1930-2024)". The
deadline for submissions is January 31, 2025.

Special Issue of Studia Logica in memory of Nuel Belnap (1930–2024), we
have decided to extend the submission deadline to April 30.

As a reminder, the editorial manager submission page for Studia Logica
can be accessed via this link: https://www.editorialmanager.com/stud/
<https://www.editorialmanager.com/stud/>. Please make also sure to
submit your paper with the article type "Special issue of Studia Logica
in memory of Nuel Belnap (1930-2024)".
