JOB: Postdoc in logic, three years full time in New Zealand

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work as part of the project “Paraconsistent Computability Theory” supported by the Marsden Fund, Royal Society of New Zealand.

The position is jointly funded and supervised by the University of Otago (Dunedin) and the University of Canterbury (Christchurch), in New Zealand’s South Island.

The project is to develop the logical and conceptual foundations of computability theory using paraconsistent logic. The project leaders are Associate Professor Zach Weber (Otago) and Distinguished Professor Jack Copeland (Canterbury).

The successful applicant will contribute to the planning, research, writing, and publication of results, and will have or be near completion of a PhD in philosophy – especially logic – or computer science or mathematics, or another related field, and will have expertise in (or be prepared to develop expertise in) paraconsistent logic, computability theory, and some relevant topics in the foundations of physics. The successful applicant will teach one class per year at the University of Otago.

This is a full-time (1FTE), fixed-term position for three years. Start date is negotiable with the candidate. Applications will be considered individually on receipt and this vacancy will close as soon as the position is filled.
