Dear all
The University of Padova is advertising for a two-year postdoctoral
researcher in the philosophy of logic and/or science (Deadline: 28th
July, 16:00 CEST), to work on the MUR-funded project The Logical
Science: How logics prove their worth through successful predictions
(PreLog), led by Ben Martin.
PreLog aims to develop a detailed account of the epistemology of logic
by drawing upon case studies from a range of logical debates,
including over solutions to the logico-semantic paradoxes and models
for belief revision. It further aims to highlight the similarities
between the mechanisms of theory-choice in logic and the recognised
sciences, including the role that predictive success plays when
choosing amongst logics. For this reason, candidates with a background
in both the philosophy of logic and the philosophy of science are
particularly encouraged to apply. For further details about the
project, see:
https://unknownscience.net/projects/
The position comes with a tax-free salary without any teaching
responsibilities, and its duties can be performed remotely if the
candidate requires. Additionally, the project has ample funds to pay
for research-related travel.

*NB: reference letters also need to be submitted by the call's deadline*
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be addressed to the PI, Ben
Martin (

Best wishes
Ben Martin
