O matemático Pierre Cartier faleceu recentemente. 

Ele foi um dos motores de Bourbaki, também famoso por ter anunciado a sua morte.
Amigo de Grothendieck, ele editou:

This is deeply sad. Pierre Cartier had such a vibrant personality and a sharp mind. I attended several of his talks in Paris at the Jean Nicod Institute and other seminars—they were always captivating. At the Unilog conference in Vichy, he mentioned his age with a touch of pride, and I couldn’t resist asking, "What's your secret?" He shared a few insights and then added, with a sly smile, "Mathematics keeps me young; it's a fascinating game to enjoy."
