Russell, Gödel, Tarski
Selected Papers on the Philosophy of Logic and Mathematics
by Francisco Rodríguez-Consuegra
It contains many interesting papers such as "Russell, Gödel and Logicism"
Abstract: In this paper I discuss three assertions, which are sometimes taken for granted: l. Russell did not understand Gödel’s celebrated results, which he interpreted as implying that arithmetic is inconsistent, and also as new “puzzles” to be solved through the theory of types; 2. Russell was unable to handle the distinction between theory and metatheory, and 3. Russell’s logicism collapsed after Gödel’s incompleteness results. By taking into consideration relevant—published and unpublished—materials, I will show that the three assertions are either false or considerably open to doubt.
This book is the 26th book published in the series Studies in Universal Logic
and shall be launched at the forthcoming 8th UNILOG next December in Cusco:
During this event, as in previous editions of UNILOG, we will have a book exhibition, with the participation of a Springer representative.
Anybody is welcome to bring some books / journals to be displayed.
