CFP: X Principia International Symposium

Dear friends,

 

We are proud to announce the opening of submissions to the X Principia International Symposium: The Construction of Experience.

 

The symposium will be held in Florianópolis, Brazil, from August 14th to 17th, 2017.

 

This time our central theme is going to be The Construction of Experience. Ever since empiricism emerged as a live philosophical option, there has been a growing awareness that experience is somehow constructed --- and, so, philosophical curiosity has been directed to diverse inquiries regarding the notion of experience as a construct, besides the process of constructing. Our theme, therefore, can be approached from a broad variety of points of view in debates that ramify towards diverse areas, such as epistemology, philosophy of mind, logic, metaphysics, philosophy of perception, philosophy of language, and philosophy of science. We welcome contributions that address any aspect of the construction of experience, as well as critical assessments of historical and contemporary stances on the matter.

 

Besides the main session about the construction of experience and the manifold of aspects related to it, we will also have, as usual, parallel sessions dealing with the following subjects:

* Philosophy and History of Science,

* Logic and Philosophy of Language,

* Epistemology,

* Metaphysics and Philosophy of Mind.

* Ethics, metaethics and applied ethics.

 

Contributed papers to the symposium may be written in English, French, Portuguese, or Spanish. An extended abstract (at most 500 words, in any of these languages) of the paper must be submitted by March 15th, 2017 to the organizing committee. Submissions must be made by e-mail only to the following address: princi...@contato.ufsc.br.

 

Abstracts must give enough detail to allow the scientific committee to assess the merits of the work. Please, do not include pictures or graphics in the abstract. References to other works should be avoided, but if necessary, must be included in the body of the text. Authors using mathematical symbols are encouraged to submit tex versions of their abstracts. Also include a separate identification page with the author's name, e-mail, professional category (professor, associate professor, researcher, or student), and full institutional address. Please, when submitting, send both the source file (.doc, .rtf, .tex, etc.) and a pdf version.

sim, é um tema muito interessante. No site do evento disponibilizamos uma lista dos invited speakers confirmados até o momento. Segue:

Mais alguns estão sendo convidados, mas ainda não estão confirmados.

Sobre a opção por um tema, em oposição a se escolher um filósofo homenageado: na verdade, esta é uma escolha feita a cada edição do evento, e acaba dependendo muito de quem irá presidir a organização. A primeira edição do simpósio, se não me engano, foi acerca de um tema (Princípios em filosofia e ciência), e agora, mais recentemente, os temas estão voltando. Todavia, isso não é uma mudança de princípios na organização, mas antes resultado das escolhas da comissão de organização.

Novamente, você e todos membros da lista estão convidados para visitar nosso site e submeter seus trabalhos!
