Diagrams 2026: Call for Tutorials

The Diagrams conference provides a united forum for all researchers with an interest in the study of diagrams. The conference fosters multi-disciplinarity and allows researchers from areas such as computer science, mathematics, psychology, philosophy, history (of science, art, etc.), education research and more to meet and share their perspectives on the theory and application of diagrams.
We invite tutorials consisting of shorter presentations and activities that run for a maximum of 2 hours. Previously, attendees have particularly enjoyed tutorials that are interactive and spark debate. In contrast to Workshops, Tutorials do not solicit contributions from attendees.
Tutorials are expected to address topics that are of interest to the Diagrams 2026 conference attendees. These include, but are not limited to, the issues of interest found on the Calls pages for the main tracks, philosophy track and psychology & education track. Examples of previous Tutorials include:
• Visualizing “Information”
• Learning to use the Openbox: A Framework for the Implementation of Heterogeneous Reasoning
• Drawing Euler Diagrams for Information Visualization
• Representational Systems Theory: What, Why and How?
• Square of Opposition: Theory and Applications
• Diagrams in the Age of Kant
• Euclid’s Elements: The Board Game
• Forgotten diagrams and their applications in gestures
• Neural Circuit Diagrams: A Diagrammatic Introduction to Deep Learning Models
• Cognitive Modelling of Interpretations of Diagrams and Notations
At least one of the authors of an accepted tutorial submission will be expected to attend the conference to give the tutorial to interested conference attendees.

SUBMISSION
We invite submissions for review that focus on any aspect of diagrams research. A tutorial proposal must contain:
1. A single page listing:
1. the title of the tutorial,
2. the names and contact information for all organizers,
3. brief biographies of the main organizers.
2. A description of the topic and rationale for the tutorial, including a brief description of why the tutorial will be relevant to Diagrams 2026 conference attendees.
3. Information on any requirements for delivering the tutorial (e.g. blackboard, flipovers, projector etc.).
4. An abstract, of up to 500 words, describing the tutorial that can be used to advertise the tutorial on the Diagrams 2026 website.
