Question for Candidates

I'm in the EMEA region but my question is for all candidates. In your region, which countries or groups of countries do you think might be most responsive to local organizing and voter outreach, and why?

Dear Lenny,

Thank you for the question.

In my opinion, I think within the EMEA, we have a great opportunity to mobilize and organize in the GCC and greater MENA region. There are a large number of American expats living in individual countries in the GCC, and the region as a whole, and if we can engage them through different types of activities, such as social and educational/informational, then we have an opportunity to build an active and sustainable platform for voter outreach and broader GOTV activities. I believe that there is an appetite there, and while we may have some limitations in terms of locally organizing (i.e. protesting, etc.), there are definitely opportunities and initiatives that we can implement to promote and enhance voter engagement, and building a DA community.

With that said, I do believe that it is important to look at DA members living in different countries within the EMEA region, and provide the support for them to build a small working committee within their country, or perhaps even a regional working group. There might be a country or region that we are not considering, and perhaps there would be potential to really build voter engagement and outreach activities in those areas as well. I would like to build on that model and perspective moving forward.

I have moved to Belarus, where I intend to reside indefinitely, although I would certainly represent the entire region to the best of my abilities.

Why it might seem that I live in a restricted country, this question needs to be looked at in this light:

The government of the country I live in is concerned about issues that affect this country and this government, I do not believe that they have any desire to restrict my discourse about my home country.

So rather than answer, the question, I would rather rephrase the question. The next representative must understand the difference between political discourse that involves the host country or surrounding countries and political discourse that only concerns the United States of America and Americans or Democrats living abroad.

We all know every country to its own challenges but absolutely no one country in my region can be said to be non-responsive to local organizing and voters outreach, why is simply that all countries in my region with it's uniqueness.
