Dear All,

thanks for stepping forward to represent us non-CC folks. I've read your statements, esp the EMEA ones, who would represent me, and my question is - what specifically will you do / prioritize? What would be your priority actions and how would you go about achieving them?

Thanks, Aaron  (living in Slovakia)

First things first, and the first thing is technological; communications. Anyone who believes that Google products and android play well with Apple products and iOS should not vote for me, but a solution must be found where the representative and all members can communicate freely. The important thing is that it not be one way, in other words, emails and posts and newsletters are one way communication where the representative just spits out information and hopes that you read it

I’m referring to chat groups that are Competently moderated where people can ask the representative, hopefully me, direct questions, get prompt answers, and everyone can see what has been discussed in real time or close to it.

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the question.

I would say that my main priorities would be:

1. Understand where all NCCs are in terms of their standing and engagement with members and build a strategic/action plan with them to enhance member engagement and voter outreach, by helping them define some annual goals and targets to support their growth in terms of membership, voter engagement, becoming CCs, communication, etc.

2. Identify potential regional working groups for NCCs that are within a geographical area or region, that will help provide a platform for the NCCs and even potentially CCs in those regions to exchange ideas, collaborate on events/activities, etc. This will hopefully help NCCs achieve their individual goals as countries, but also to serve as a collaborative regional group to have a broader outreach for the overall region.

3. Potentially establish new NCCs in areas where we have a member or two, and provide them with the resources and support to expand and enhance membership and engagement.

4. Support NCCs in becoming more efficient and effective in how they work, whether that involves helping them develop more comprehensive and effective plans (with indicators for success) or using innovative tools for increased engagement with members, such as communication platforms, access to information, etc.

I hope this answers your question.

Thank you.

All the best,
Bahareh

RE: What specifically will you do / prioritize? What would be your priority actions and how would you go about achieving them?

I would find liaisons and lead organizers in as many AP countries as possible. Then, I would host periodic meetings as a group and individually to provide support and better understand the conditions for organizing. Having more volunteers creates a community of practice where mentoring and coaching can happen. That means we will have more leaders in our organization down the line.

Conducting some research into the experiences of Democratic voters in remote, challenging politically, or low-activity locations would be a good way to be more representative rather than just having an agenda.

Compliance is the priority, but I'm realistic. I suggest making non-CCs into chapters attached to established CCs or putting them in their own confederation.

To achieve this I'd work closely with the RVC and their deputies and other members of the AP leadership team. Again, from my experience, getting more people involved leads to more action.

Hello. Very good question and thank you for asking, Aaron. It is also nice to see the replies from the other candidates.

My priorities and statements:

1. If I am elected or not, I will be more involved in DA.
2. Being very new in this leadership position, I admit, I need a lot of guidance. I will reach out to the leaders of NCC to obtain advice on how I can effectively & efficiently represent the Asian Pacific (AP) region and DA.
3. I will reach out to members of the AP DA members and ask them what their concerns are and to be hopeful, I can offer support & proper guidance.
4. I will try to set up regular meetings to stay closely connected with members. I live in Cambodia, so I will try to set-up in-person meetings with the local DA members.
5. I will try encouraging the US Expats, I meet, to join DA if they are not members and to share with them the opportunities, resources and services available to them.

Best wishes to all of you!
