I wanted to encourage some further discussion and also get some additional input from electors here, on why it's important for DA Leaders to have an accessible and up-to-date Contact List that includes all of our fellow DA elected leaders across the organization.
Why do you think it is important for us to have a DA Contact List?
I have also had a number of recent conversations where some have asked if there are any GDPR or Privacy issues with having such an internal Contact List. Here are some pointers that I hope will address any concerns around this.
- First off, it is important to recognize that we are all publicly elected representatives: All of us, as DPCA members and Country Committee Officers, have chosen to put our names forward to be elected – through public, open, and transparent elections. To get here, we have asked others to elect us to a public office to represent them.
There are NO GDPR Restrictions on having this list – When our Data Protection Officer (DPO) (our external contracted data privacy expert) was asked if there were any GDPR/Data Privacy issues that would prevent sharing an internal Contact List of elected DA leaders, they replied emphatically: "It is part of their job description to be able to be contacted by fellow leaders!"
ONLY for Internal Use – To be very clear, we are only talking about an internal contact list for use among fellow DA elected leaders – who have all signed a DA Confidentiality Agreement – to enable them to be in touch with each other. This would not be shared or available outside of DA leadership.
Again, I welcome your thoughts and questions on this Resolution and I would very much appreciate your support as a co-sponsor:
Co-Sponsor sign-up deadline is this Tuesday.
