Obviously this is not a new idea, helping people preserve stuff. We want to make sure we are aware of, and build upon previous work in this area.

If you have information, articles, papers, examples, or other related things to share, please post them here!

Thanks.

I was just chatting with Trevor, Elizabeth and Allison at AIP, and KeepRight came up (obvs). They already have a "self-submission" form available for people who may have photography that's suitable to donate to the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives at AIP. Here's their photo submission form, which they continue to refine.

The point of acquisition is ripe for a protocol like KeepRight!

Trevor also mentioned work out of the Library of Congress and Abbie Grotke's team at NDSA/Web Archiving: Opting In to Preservation from 2011.

And lastly, tooting my and Tori McKenna's horn, we released a report at the Flickr Foundation called Death Is Not an Edge Case, which describes in-depth research mostly by Tori with long-term account holders at Flickr.com, to hear their thoughts, ideas, and positions on digital legacy. Lots of good stuff in there!

I/we are also proud members of the Global Resilient Information Network (GRIN) initiative, steered by the Royal Library of the Netherlands (KB), and that group is also gathering relevant projects together (which you can access from that link under the Updates heading, PDF).
