Dart at position 17 in Tiobe index October 2014

Dart has climbed up the Tiobe index and has now reached position 17 for October 2014:

Well Tiobe has its mood swings and is to some extend questionable. But I guess it is worth a note. Amazing ... ;-)

Well, when you look at the FAQ's at the bottom of that page:

"Q: How may I nominate a new language to be added to the TIOBE index?

A: If a language meets the criteria of being listed (i.e. it is Turing complete and has an own Wikipedia entry that indicates that it concerns a programming language) and it is sufficiently popular (more than 25,000 hits for +"<language> programming" for Google), then please write an e-mail to tp...@tiobe.com."

Are these people looking for Basic, the language, programming, or are they looking for basic, as in introductory, programming?  Just a thought.  That, and sadly Basic is taught in some universities to satisfy a mathematics core requirement....

Better indicator of popularity would be: number of job offerings on monster. Not sure TIOBE takes it into account.
