During the Dart Summit some of the Dart team created a channel on Slack for the proceedings. I'm wondering if we can get some additional dartlang channels for those of us who want to chat about the language.

I realize there's the IRC channel but I personally like the experience of Slack much better than going through IRC.

Any opinions?

I'd also like to see Dart on slack to continue (e.g. add a #general room).
Chat is a great format to build community and learn.

I don't think anyone expects Dart team members to be around and could be regarded as an 'unofficial' thing.
We'd also make sure to mention that people should ask questions on stackoverflow or migrate solved problems to there after the fact.

I can also second what Don said about Slack/IRC, I spent a ton of time on IRC but stopped over the last few years, Slack is just a better experience imho and fulfils a similar use case re community/realtime chat.

I 100% agree. I use IRC, and I'm on it all the time, but Slack offers a better experience.

Shameless plug! :)

Dart-powered Woven at http://woven.co/dartlang. Think of it as a Slack for communities.

I know, it's got a ways to go. I too love Slack (but a new onboarding flow for each channel, ugh). Bettering it every day, and would love your input.

And I think "unofficial" activity is a sign of a robust community. Let's vote with our feet. No one's stopping us from chatting it up in #summit or dartlang on Woven.

I tried to sign up for woven but it just says it's invite only and wouldn't let me.

Easily remedied! :) Approved, refresh.

There are good reasons it's not open to just anyone on the internet. But anyone who's already participating can invite anyone else with the /invite command.

I have lurked on this, not commenting, for probably a year...

Please do this... I love slack and I love Dart and the two combined... my god the possibilities.

Slack all the way for me as well. UX is better, sharing code has never been easier.

I just wanted to update this thread with the URL to reach the Dart community on Slack:

(because if you google for 'slack + dart' this thread comes up)

Sorry for Slack (it represent certainly lot of works and much more)

But depending how you works, It is not as efficient as a simple mailing list and irc channel (with bot and log).

I would really like to see the screenshot of the desk and desktop of the dev of Dart ;-D

Of course there is also this mailing list, Google+, the IRC channel, StackOverflow etc etc
and you will find more or less the same familiar faces on all of the platforms :D
