[My apologies for forgetting to announce on this mailing list on Wednesday. It was meant to be the first one to get the news but I got sidetracked. — Filip]

Until now, the multiple language flavors of Angular 2 were generated from a shared TypeScript codebase into both JavaScript and Dart. This strategy allowed a single team to deliver to the widest possible audience. While this worked, it came at the cost of development velocity. In some cases, it also hindered the creation of the best possible APIs for each language.

We're happy to announce there is now a dedicated AngularDart team. This is great news for users of all three languages.

TypeScript and JavaScript developers will be able to focus on a single language in which they are already experts, making it easier to contribute patches and get reviews. Read more here:

Dart developers will enjoy an increased rate of improvement, including features that make the most of Dart's capabilities. Dart developers can also look forward to a set of pure-Dart Material Design components. Read more here:

Both versions will continue to share the same template syntax and, where appropriate, the same API.

We're all excited about this change, and we believe it'll make Angular 2 more useful for everyone.
