AP Government Teachers on Sirius XM Today
Advanced Placement Government teachers Andrew Conneen and Dan Larsen will appear on “The Oliver Knox Show” at 5:40 today on Sirius XM 124, the POTUS (Politics of the United States) channel. They’ll be discussing their 11th annual “Cram for the Exam” review session on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal,” set for 8 a.m. Saturday. AP Government students who want to call in Saturday morning should use this number: 202-748-8000.
Parents Invited to Help With Final PPA Bake Sale
The final Patriot Parent Association Bake Sale of the school year is Wednesday. The PPA is looking for adult volunteers to provide store-bought or homemade treats, and to work the bake sale. Click here to sign up.
Social Media Specialist Teaches Oklahoma Group
Stevenson’s social media specialist, Crystal Maleski, led a pair of virtual presentations for the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association recently. She was invited to share and demonstrate desktop and mobile apps for easy graphic and video production. In keeping with the topic, a mobile conferencing app was used so travel was not required.

Girls Badminton
Stevenson hosted IHSA Sectional: The two-time defending state champion Patriots won their ninth consecutive sectional championship, qualifying all of their singles and doubles entries for next week’s state tournament at Eastern Illinois University. In a rematch of last year’s state doubles championship contest, Emily Hu and Jenny Yang beat Jyotsna Harikrishna and Benna Li, 21-5, 21-5. Shibani Ram, who finished third in state singles last year, captured the singles crown, defeating Kaitlyn Lu, 21-14, 21-12, in the title match. Jenny will be making her third trip to state. She finished second in state doubles as a freshman before reaching the summit last spring. Kaitlyn will be heading to state for the first time. Everyone else will be making their second appearance. In the team standings, Stevenson had 18 points, with runner-up Oak Park-River Forest at 10.5. - Official Results
Girls Soccer
Stevenson 2, Warren 0: The third-ranked Patriots shut out their ninth consecutive opponent and, combined with Libertyville’s defeat of Lake Forest, clinched their first North Suburban Conference championship since 2016. SHS (16-1-2, 6-0) won its 11th consecutive game, and is one victory away from tying the school record set in 2007. Stevenson’s defense was stifling, limiting the Blue Devils (9-7-2, 2-2-1) to four shots on goal, all of which were stopped by goalie Jenny Staten, who recorded her 13th shutout of the season. The game was scoreless until Gracie Wingfield’s second-half goal broke the ice. Kalyssa VanZanten added an insurance goal, her team-leading 19th of the season, off an assist from Gabi Nyc. Stevenson, which has yet to yield a goal in conference play, will conclude its NSC schedule against Lake Forest Monday night in the Stadium. - NFHS Network Replay | Daily Herald

Stevenson at Lake County Invitational: David Smolensky and Jahleel Perrin earned three first-place medals apiece at Grayslake Central. Jahleel won the 100-meter dash (11.16) and David captured the 200 (22.52), and both ran in a pair of winning relays with Jordan Vincent and Jimmy Davis. The four claimed the 800 relay (1:31.46) and 400 relay (43.43). David added a second-place showing in the 100 (11.24) while Jahleel was runner-up in the 200 (22.57). Anand Batbaatar finished fourth in the shot put (53 feet, 7 inches) and Maema Njongmeta was fifth in discus (158-7). Stevenson placed fourth in the team standings with 67 points, behind first-time county champion Antioch (124), Barrington (81), Grayslake Central (71). - Official Results, Daily Herald
Girls Track and Field
Stevenson at North Suburban Conference Championships: The 800-meter relay team of Jade Cadichon, Hailey Peterson, Raeden Mays and Jordan Tollison won the league title with a time of 1:48.72 at Lake Zurich. Their victory marked Stevenson’s second NSC 800 relay championship in the last three seasons. The quartet also placed second in the 400 relay (50.73) to help SHS finish fourth in the team standings with 77 points, behind Lake Zurich (149), Warren (128) and Libertyville (80). Camille Clay was runner-up in shot put (38 feet, 7 inches) and second in discus (111-1), and Natalie Sorenson took second in the 3,200 (11:09.98). Mia Mikolajczak was fourth in the 300 hurdles (50.97) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (17.57). She was one of seven Pats to place fourth in their event. The others were Jordan in the 200 (27.21), Kendall Roberts in the 1,600 (5:26.83), Miffy Tani in the 100 hurdles (17.48), Ella O’Neal in the shot put (35-0), Natali Freihammer in the discus (103-7), and Maddie Kadens in the long jump (15-3.5). Emma Potocki finished fifth in the high jump (4-7), Jade was sixth in the 200 (27.55) and Jessica Zhang took sixth in the long jump (14-3.75). Also placing sixth were two relays: the 1,600 with Kendall, Lindsey Hendler, Alivia Alton and Emily Ossentjuk (4:44.56), and the 3,200 with Abby Jiang, Ashley Anderson, Varsha Shreekumar and Emily Fejes (11:17.05). - Official Results | Daily Herald

Lyons Township 10, Stevenson 1 - NFHS Network Replay
JV Girls Track Team Wins Conference Meet
Stevenson won the North Suburban Conference junior varsity girls track and field championship Thursday at Lake Zurich. The Patriots amassed 149 points to top Warren (120) and five other schools. SHS won six events, four individual and two relays. Julia Stakhiv won the 100-meter dash (13.65), Olga Piatkowska captured the 200 (28.02), Olivia Barreca took the 400 (1:06.95) and Inna Chong claimed the high jump (4 feet, 7 inches). Stevenson won two relays: the 800 with Olga, Natalie Sinjaradze, Aubrey Tomochek and Janice Quainoo (1:55.52), and the 1,600 with Olivia, Aubrey, Julia and Nicole Palella (4:34.64). Tommy Frezza Commits to Binghamton
Senior Tommy Frezza, one of 10 state medalists in Stevenson wrestling history, will continue his athletic career at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y. Tommy was a three-time IHSA state finals qualifier, and finished sixth at 120 pounds in 2018. He reached the 120-pound quarterfinals this year before ending the year with a 37-6 record. Tommy posted a 142-33 record as a four-year member of the SHS varsity. The Bearcats had a 10-3 record this season, and had four wrestlers reach the NCAA Championships.
Softball Team Playing Tonight in Rosemont
The varsity softball team is scheduled to play Lake Zurich at 7 o’clock tonight at The Ballpark at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont. The Patriots will play in the 2,000-seat home of the Chicago Bandits professional women’s softball team.
Alumna Leads Bowling Team to Top of Leaderboard
Wichita State University junior Kaitlyn Rudy (Class of 2016) is part of a team that currently stands atop the leaderboard in the highest division of the 2019 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships. Rudy and her three teammates in the ICT Pride No. 1 team rolled a three-game series of 2,565 in the Diamond Division at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kan., the home of this year’s championships, which end June 29. Rudy, who finished third in Illinois as an SHS junior and 12th as a senior, led her team with a 672 series. She is a member of Wichita State’s women’s bowling team, which was one of 16 schools to qualify for the Intercollegiate Bowling Championships last month in Dayton, Ohio.

Saturday’s Allied Soccer game against Antioch in the Stadium will be streamed live on Stevenson’s NFHS Network page. The game begins at 1 p.m.
