Residency Verification Starts Today
Today is the first day that families can submit documentation as evidence that they live within District 125 attendance boundaries. Documentation must be submitted in person between now and June 17. Click here for drop-off dates and times. Once residency documents have been submitted and verified, families will be able to complete the online registration and fee payment process, which opens June 19.
Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, each SHS family will be required to share such documentation on an annual basis. The change, which puts Stevenson in line with most area high schools, is meant to ensure that taxpayer resources are used as effectively as possible for the education of students who live within the school district.
Summer School Update
Students who are enrolled in summer school will receive letters with teacher and room assignments during the last week of May. Incoming freshmen and transfer students will receive their iPads in the classroom on their first day of summer school. Summer school bus routes will be posted on the Stevenson website at d125.org once they are available.
For those who have not signed up for summer school, registration continues online until Friday. After that, registration will be on a walk-in basis only. Cancellations may be made by emailing summers...@d125.org.
SHS Wins UW-Parkside Geography Bowl
Stevenson captured the championship at the 31st annual Geography Bowl at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Monday. SHS has won the title in each of its three appearances in the competition, which included sophomore and upper-class teams. Stevenson’s roster featured all sophomores: Team captain Ishaan Khullar, plus Avinash Kalanadhabhatta, Praneet Rathi, Saketh Nama, Rohan Pemmasani and Rohit Pemmasani.
Tandem Qualifies for State Bass Fishing Tournament
Two members of the school’s bass fishing team have qualified for the upcoming Illinois Bass Nation state tournament. Junior Jason Qualich and sophomore Charles Zheng finished second in Sunday’s IBN tournament on the Des Plaines River, earning a berth in the state meet June 2 on Clinton Lake near Champaign. The pair caught five fish weighing a total of 8.88 pounds. Senior brothers Cameron Grisamore and Jack Grisamore will compete June 1 on Clinton Lake in an IBN state-qualifier event.

Friday’s Daily Digest entry on perfect ACT and SAT scorers noted junior Radha Patel’s perfect ACT, but failed to mention her perfect SAT.

Boys Volleyball
Stevenson at IHSA Libertyville Regional: The fourth-seeded Patriots (27-8) beat No. 11 Libertyville (6-30) in the quarterfinals, 25-22, 25-21, advancing to tonight’s 6:30 semifinal against No. 5 Lake Zurich, a two-set winner over No. 10 Mundelein. Junior Gavin Meng had eight kills and senior Thomas Finn added seven for SHS, which defeated Lake Zurich, 25-20, 25-21, on April 17. In the regional quarterfinal, junior Andrew Keevins was 42-of-45 setting with 20 assists. Senior Will Sorenson was 10-of-11 with three assists, and also had two aces and eight digs. Junior Samuel Epstein made 10 digs and classmate Justin Ross added four kills.
Girls Lacrosse
Stevenson in IHSA Stevenson Sectional: Senior Erica Spieler and junior Kilian Weber each scored four goals as the top-seeded Patriots hammered Highland Park, 17-4, in the sectional quarterfinal game at Warren Township High School. SHS (12-7), which has won 11 of its last 12 games, will face the winner of No. 4 Vernon Hills versus No. 5 Libertyville in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Stadium. Kilian added two assists and Erica had one. Senior Sophie Sorenson had three goals and three assists, while classmate Georgia Maskalunas recorded two goals and an assist. Junior Jamie Fisher scored twice, and senior Aedyn Gorenberg and junior Maggie Kirby also scored. The Patriot defense, led by senior Payton Jagiello and junior Shaina Zilber, caused 11 turnovers. Junior goalies Lara Koutah and Anastasia Crews each played a half. Lara made seven saves on nine shots in the first half, while Anastasia had five saves on seven shots in the second half.
Boys Lacrosse
Stevenson at IHSA Lake Forest Sectional: The Patriots’ season came to an end with a 16-5 loss to top-seeded Lake Forest in the quarterfinals. Senior Seth Collins led SHS with three goals, while freshman Ryan Hynes and senior John Greenbury also scored. John’s goal was the first of his career, according to the coaching staff. - @PatsLax
Girls Soccer Sectional Semifinal at Buffalo Grove
Stevenson’s girls soccer team will attempt to make more history this week. The third-ranked Patriots have won a school-record 20 games, including a record 18 by shutout, and have only given up six goals all season. The next major milestone is the IHSA sectional championship. Stevenson has never won a sectional title since the IHSA added the sport in 1983. Coach PepeJon Chavez’s team can take the first step toward a sectional crown when it faces Lake Zurich at 5 o’clock today at Buffalo Grove High School. Stevenson beat the Bears 1-0 on April 23, en route to a perfect North Suburban Conference record that included no goals allowed in six games. SHS (20-1-2) is the top seed in the sectional, while Lake Zurich (12-9-1) is No. 4.
SHS Softball Regional Starts Today
The IHSA Class 4A Stevenson Softball Regional begins today, but the hosts don’t play until Wednesday. Hersey plays Waukegan at 4:30 today in the first semifinal, while SHS takes on Carmel in the second semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The semifinal winners meet for the regional championship at 11 a.m. Saturday. Stevenson and Carmel squared off in the second game of the season on March 19, with Maggie Trotter’s grand slam lifting the Patriots to a 10-6 victory.
Baseball Regional Matchup Set
The Patriot baseball team, the No. 2 seed in the IHSA Class 4A St. Viator Sectional, will face No. 15 Highland Park in the Stevenson Regional semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. SHS (23-9) lost to the Giants in the opening game of the season. The Patriots are No. 12 in the latest Daily Herald rankings.
PPA Offers Free Admission Deals on Wednesday
The Patriot Parent Association is paying for free admission for the first 25 SHS students who attend Wednesday’s girls lacrosse sectional, and softball or baseball regional games at Stevenson. Students must show their school ID to receive free admission.
Future Patriot Athletic Night for Grades 7-8
Local seventh- and eighth-grade boys and girls can learn what it take to play sports at Stevenson during the PREP program’s “Future Patriot Athletic Night” Wednesday night in the Sports Center. Coaches from various SHS sports will train students in dynamic warm-ups, agility exercises, functional fitness movements, athletic nutrition, and the expectations of being a student-athlete. The evening runs from 6-8:30 p.m., with a parent meeting from 8-8:30. The cost is $15. Click here to sign up.

Last Day to Clean Out PE Lockers
All Physical Education lockers must be cleaned out by the end of classes today. Locks will then be cut off and any belongings left behind will be donated to local charities.
Textbook Return Information for All Students
Seniors may return their textbooks on Monday and Tuesday, May 20-21, in the Lower Sports Center Lobby from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All other students may return textbooks Wednesday through Friday, May 22-24, in the Lower Sports Center Lobby from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lose Something? Check These Lost-and-Found Areas
If you’ve lost a lunch bag, water bottle, pencil case, backpack, sweatshirt or some other item of importance, check one of the lost-and-found areas to see if it’s been turned in. Lost-and-found items are placed in Room 2416 in the West Building, and in Room 5024 (in the Field House lobby) in the East Building.
