Online Registration for Summer School Closes May 24
Online summer school registration closes Friday, May 24. Only walk-in registrations will be accepted beginning May 24. To see the summer school course catalog and to register, visit d125.org/summer.
Archery Team Qualifies for World Championships
The archery team placed 91st out of 263 teams at last weekend’s NASP National Archery Tournament in Louisville, Ky. Senior Temma Saito lead the team with 282 points and 17 bullseyes, sophomore David Bayer scored 280 points and 15 bullseyes, and sophomore Malachi Park also scored 280 points with 14 bullseyes. With its team score of 3,297, Stevenson qualified for the NASP World Championships at the end of July in Nashville, Tenn.
Spring Guitar Concert Tuesday Night
The Spring Guitar Concert takes place at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the West Auditorium. Admission is free. The concert also will be livestreamed on the Fine Arts Division’s Vimeo page.
Correction
An item in Thursday’s Digest on SHS students involved with the Science for Future program misspelled the names of two students and omitted two others. The misspelled student names were Paul Mejer and Jonny Abraham. Juniors Prabhjaap Singh and Vivek Thatte were omitted.

Girls Badminton
Stevenson at IHSA State Finals: Sophomore Emily Hu and junior Jenny Yang won their second straight state doubles championship, finishing the season with a 42-0 record. In a rematch of last year’s final, Jenny and Emily defeated teammates Benna Li and Jyotsna Harikrishna for the title, 21-14, 21-9. Benna and Jyotsna, both sophomores, finished the year with a 41-2 record. Their only losses came to Emily and Jenny. The Patriots’ bid for a third consecutive state championship fell short by a half-point to Fremd, 20-19.5, at Eastern Illinois University. Sophomore Shibani Ram placed fourth in singles. She won her first four matches before a knee injury sidelined her in the semifinals and the third-place match. Shibani closed the year with a 39-4 record. Stevenson at IHSA State Finals: Freshman Jack White competed in the preliminaries of floor exercise (8.85), vault (8.6) and high bar (7.7), but did not advance to the finals. - Official Results
Girls Water Polo
Stevenson at IHSA Buffalo Grove Sectional: The two-time defending state champion Patriots (33-0) mauled Mundelein, 19-4, for their sixth straight sectional title and extended their winning streak to 66 consecutive games. SHS will face St. Ignatius in the IHSA state quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Patriot Aquatic Center. The Mustangs scored the first goal of the game 28 seconds into the first quarter, then watched as Stevenson reeled off 12 straight goals. The Patriots employed a stifling defense, holding the Mustangs to eight shots on goal and recording 45 steals. Nine of the steals were made by Lauren Maloney, who scored six times. Kalista Tapas and Shreya Sreedhar each had four goals. Elizabeth Matlin scored twice, and Eleanor Michaud, Anna Gates and Elizabeth White all had one goal. Eleanor also had nine steals and five assists. Shreya made five steals and Maddy O’Donnell had four. Goalkeepers Anna Mossakowski and Maggie Bauwens split duties. Anna had six saves to go along with three assists and three steals in the first half, while Maggie made five saves in the second half. - Daily Herald

Stevenson at IHSA Buffalo Grove Sectional: The Patriots defeated Mundelein, 12-8, for their eighth consecutive sectional championship and a berth in this week’s IHSA state finals. SHS (23-10) will take on defending state champion Naperville Central (31-1) in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday in the Patriot Aquatic Center. Stevenson led the entire game against Mundelein (22-8), holding a 2-0 advantage after the first quarter thanks to goals by Mark Holzer and Dima Kobets. The pair scored again to make it 4-0 early in the second. The Mustangs cut the lead in half before Dima scored his third goal as SHS took a 5-2 halftime lead. After MHS scored two goals early in the third quarter, Dima responded with a pair of scores and the Patriots regained control. Drew Wangard scored all three of his goals in the fourth quarter as SHS extended the lead to 10-6. Beno Maya and Grant Huey also scored in the final frame. Stevenson at North Suburban Conference Championships: The Patriots won their third consecutive league championship, defeating Lake Forest, 38-32, and five other schools at the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex. SHS won five of the seven brackets, all with victories over Scouts. Eric Perkowski won the No. 1 singles championship (6-4, 6-4) and Nicholas Stec captured the No. 3 singles title (6-1, 7-5). In doubles, Payton Adkisson and Daniel Tulchinskiy won at No. 2 (6-2, 6-1), Thomas Gong and Andy Dong took the No. 3 bracket (6-4, 6-1), and Kevin Fei and Gabriel Visotsky prevailed at No. 4 (6-3, 3-6, 6-1). Arjun Sheelvanth and Ozzie Viswanathan were second at No. 2 doubles, and Zach Kim was runner-up at No. 2 singles. - Daily Herald

Stevenson 14-17, Wauconda 9-12: Maggie O’Brien hit two home runs, including a grand slam, as the Patriots extended their winning streak to five games with the sweep at home. Emily Freedman also homered twice for SHS, one in each game, and added a double and triple in the nightcap. Maggie Trotter also had a home run in the second game, while Anna Fossier and Riley Housinger doubled. Haley Barnes was the winning pitcher in Game 2 for the Patriots, who broke open a 4-4 game with 13 runs in their final three at-bats. Stevenson 12, Grayslake Central 0 (6 inn.): Frank Carris, Jacob Rosenkranz and Nick Brueckert combined on a one-hitter for the visiting Patriots (19-9). The trio struck out eight and walked one. Zach Taylor gave SHS all the runs it needed by hitting a two-run home run in the first inning. He finished 2-for-2 with three runs batted in. Ryan Miller drove in four runs and was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. He hit a two-run triple. Justin Tumpowsky was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Stevenson at IHSA Buffalo Grove Sectional: Lauren Maloney scored four goals, and Eleanor Michaud and Kalista Tapas had three apiece as the top-ranked Patriots (32-0) beat Libertyville, 18-3, in the sectional semifinals. Anna Mossakowski made eight saves in the first half and Maggie Bauwens had five in the second.

Stevenson 4, Dundee-Crown 2: Joey Little singled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Sean Kiah added an RBI single in the sixth for the host Patriots (18-9). Both hits came in their only plate appearance. Joey’s single knocked in Chris Farina and snapped a 2-2 tie in place since the first inning. Chris finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. He stole home in the first inning. Ryan McElhinny also went 2-for-3, scoring on Sean’s hit. Starting pitcher Jacob Freed went five innings, giving up no earned runs and four hits. He struck out three. Brandon Ward threw the final two innings, surrendering one hit and striking out two. Language Honor Society Inductions Wednesday Night
Stevenson’s Language Honor Societies (Hebrew, Spanish, German and Chinese) will hold their induction ceremony at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. The evening will begin in the Wood Commons, with individual ceremonies taking place in these rooms: 2104 (Chinese), 2500 (German), Black Box Theatre (Hebrew) and West Auditorium (Spanish).
Spring ESPPA Award Nominations Due by Wednesday
Have you seen a Patriot student-athlete or team have a great game or a great season this spring? Is there a team manager or fan that deserves to be recognized? Nominations are now being taken for the Athletic Division’s Exceptional Stevenson Patriot Pride Award (ESPPA). Several categories are available. To make a nomination, fill out the form at this link. The nomination deadline is Wednesday. Winners will be recognized at the Spring Sports Awards Night on Monday.
The next meeting of FIRE (Fostering Intercultural Respect and Empowerment) will take place at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in Room 2115. Please note the room change. All are welcome to attend.
