61 Students Post Perfect ACT, SAT Scores
Thirty-two members of the Class of 2019 earned perfect ACT or SAT scores during their high school careers, according to reports from the organizations that oversee each exam. In addition, 29 other students in grades 9-11 earned perfect scores on the ACT exam during the 2018-19 school year.
The federal Family Educational and Privacy Rights Act requires the school to receive consent from a parent or guardian before releasing student names publicly. Here are the names of students with perfect scores whose parents or guardians gave consent to publicize them. (Four families did not respond, and one student requested to be left out.) The following had perfect ACT scores unless shown otherwise:

2019-20 Theatrical Productions Announced
The Theater Department has announced its performance schedule for the 2019-20 school year.
The fall play will be “The Transition of Doodle Pequeño,” and will be performed Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 12-14 in the Black Box Theatre. Gabriel Jason Dean’s play follows two boys who become friends in spite of their differences.
One of the most celebrated musicals in Broadway history will take the Main Stage of the Performing Arts Center Friday through Sunday, Nov. 15-17. “Chicago: High School Edition” is a toned-down version of the satirical take on corruption in Chicago during the Jazz Age of the 1920s. Based on a script by Fred Ebbm, Bob Fosse, John Kander and Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. Its film adaptation won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2002.
The freshman-sophomore play features the Harry Potter parody, “Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” by Matt Cox. “For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story,” reads the play’s website. “This is the story of the Puffs ... who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.” The show will be performed Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, in the Little Theater portion of the Performing Arts Center.
The comedic tone continues with the winter play, Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” set for Thursday through Saturday, March 5-7 in the West Auditorium. Wilde’s most popular play takes a farcical look at two bachelors trying to escape their humdrum lives in late Victorian Era-London.
The theatrical schedule concludes with the annual “Spring One Acts,” a series of one-act plays written, directed and performed by students. The plays will be performed Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, in the West Auditorium.
Two From SHS to Speak at SEL Conference
SEL Coordinator Molly Gosline and Director of Assessment Tony Reibel are leading a presentation at next week’s Social Emotional Learning Conference in Baltimore, sponsored by the Center for the Promotion of Social Emotional Learning. Their presentation, “Building an SEL Culture through Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction,” is featured on the first day and will highlight the SEL integration process in which Stevenson teachers are currently engaged. The three-day conference will include more than 700 educators from 25 states.

Girls Water Polo
Stevenson at IHSA State Quarterfinals: Lauren Maloney scored five goals and Kalista Tapas and Eleanor Michaud each added four as the No. 1 Patriots cruised past Whitney Young, 21-2. SHS (34-0) will take a 67-game winning streak into its semifinal matchup against No. 3 Mother McAuley at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Mighty Macs beat No. 2 Fenwick, 9-8. Kelly Kempf and Shreya Sreedhar scored two goals apiece, and Hanna Cloeter and Elizabeth Matlin also scored for Stevenson, which led 8-0 after the first quarter and 15-0 at halftime. Anna Mossakowski and Maggie Bauwens split time in goal, with Anna making 12 saves and Maggie securing eight. Saturday’s semifinal will mark the fourth straight year SHS and Mother McAuley have met in the state tournament. The Patriots beat the Mighty Macs in the 2018 quarterfinals and 2017 semifinals, and also defeated them in the 2016 third-place game. Stevenson at IHSA Class 3A Buffalo Grove Sectional: The Patriots won six events, an unofficial school record, and tied Fremd for second among 17 schools. Sophomore David Smolensky won the 200-meter dash (22.54 seconds), finished second to junior Jahleel Perrin in the 100, and joined him and juniors Shane Johnson and Jordan Vincent in capturing two relays: the 400 (42.86) and 800 (1:29.02), both season-best times. Jahleel and David posted the same time in the 100 (11.18), with the elder sprinter getting the nod. The 400 relay team nearly broke the school-time of 42.84 set in 2011. Also qualifying for state were two field event winners. Senior Maema Njongmeta won the discus with a throw of 168 feet, 3 inches, and will head to state in that event for the second straight year. Senior Anand Batbaatar also will be making his second trip to state after winning the shot put with a top effort of 55 feet. He made state in shot put as a sophomore. Shane, David and Jahleel will be making their second straight trip to state in the 800 relay. Other non-state-qualifying point-scorers for Stevenson were: Jahleel, third in the 200 (22.67); junior Anthony Rodriguez, fifth in the 3,200 (9:50.80); and senior Dan Erdenetsogt, fifth in the shot put (51-7) and sixth in the discus (141-7). - Official Results | Daily Herald

Stevenson 9, Vernon Hills 6 (8 inn.): The Patriots scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a 6-6 tie. Maggie O’Brien was 2-for-5 with a triple and three runs batted in. Anna Fossier drove in two runs and had two hits. Haley Barnes and Maggie Trotter each had an RBI and two hits, with Maggie smacking a double. Lexi Gitler also doubled during her two-hit day, while Elle Ruchim had a triple among her two hits. Emily Freedman also joined the two-hit brigade. Boys Volleyball
Palatine d. Stevenson, 25-14, 25-21: The visiting Pirates spoiled Senior Night in the Sports Center. Thomas Finn led the Patriots (26-8) with five kills. Will Sorenson was 31-of-31 setting with 11 assists, and had a team-best five digs. Derek Peterson was 7-of-9 setting with two assists. Gavin Meng had three kills, and Daniel Doczi, John Angelos and Michael Gorokhovsky recorded two kills apiece. SHS plays in the Libertyville Regional against the host school at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Sectional Tennis, Lacrosse This Weekend
Two Patriot sports teams with vastly different IHSA resumes will take part in sectional action this weekend. The boys lacrosse team will be playing in its second-ever IHSA sectional game Saturday, facing Palatine at 5 p.m. in the Stadium. (The girls are playing host to a sectional as well, with their first game on Monday.) This is the second year boys (and girls) lacrosse have been officially sanctioned by the IHSA, after years of operating under different organizations. The boys tennis team, meanwhile, has a long and impressive IHSA history. The Patriots will be seeking their 13th consecutive sectional championship, and have placed in the state’s top 10 every year since 2007. Stevenson also is host to a Class 2A tennis sectional, with action scheduled to begin at noon today. Due to the weather, singles matches have been moved to College Park Athletic Club East in Bannockburn, while doubles will played at College Park Athletic Club West in Lincolnshire. The sectional tournament wraps up Saturday at the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex if weather permits. Click here to see sectional tennis results.

If you’re looking for graduation gift ideas, Sports Boosters is holding its final apparel “flash sale” of the school year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday in the Field House lobby. Cash, credit card and checks will be accepted.
Baseball Alumnus Reaches NCAA Division III Tourney
Coe College’s baseball team, which includes SHS alumnus Matthew Mittelmark (Class of 2018), earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III baseball tournament. The Kohawks will carry a 34-5 record into the double-elimination regional in St. Louis, which begins today. Mittelmark has pitched in 10 games for Coe, starting four.
This Weekend on NFHS Network
Tonight’s girls soccer regional championship game between Stevenson and Buffalo Grove will be streamed live from the Stadium on Stevenson’s NFHS Network page, beginning at 6 o’clock. On Saturday, two events are scheduled to be shown from the Stadium: the Allied Soccer invitational, which starts at noon, and the varsity boys lacrosse team’s IHSA sectional game at 5 p.m. Stevenson plays Palatine.

De-Stress Days Planned Next Week
The Student Services Division will be holding De-Stress Days during final exams week. Here is the schedule of events:
Monday: Comfort dogs will be back in the College Career Center during all three lunch periods. If your parent or guardian has already completed a permission slip, you do not need another one. If not, please bring this signed permission slip during your lunch period on Monday.
Wednesday: Beaver’s Donut Truck will be here from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., during second period and fourth period finals. The first 200 students who come to the Wood Commons will receive tickets for free mini-donuts, thanks in part to the Patriot Parent Association.
Thursday: Fla-Var-Ice and mini-cupcake decorating will take place in the CCC.
Friday: Movies and popcorn in the CCC.
Also, there will be Wii, board games, candy, sand art and crafts all three days of finals in the CCC.
Pick Up Your WIT Starting Monday
All students can pick up their free copy of the WIT, Stevenson’s literary magazine, starting Monday in either Communication Arts Office. Magazines will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, only until the end of the school year.
