Active phishing scam: Do not follow links to unsolicited Google Docs shares!

Hi all,

Here's a message from UMD ITSS -- phishing scams like this are ongoing at many institutions using Google Docs:

Spam Mail Outbreak - Do Not Follow Links to Unsolicited Google Document Shares

There are a large number of emails coming into UMD accounts that appear to be documents shared - sometimes appearing to come from trusted sources. Please examine incoming emails carefully and do not follow the document link if there is any sign that it is SPAM.


In the SPAM we have seen today, the email appears to be addressed to "hhhhhhh..." regardless of the actual receiver. This is one way you can identify that it is SPAM.


OIT and ITSS staff are working to resolve this and we expect to send more information as it becomes available.
