Can you help save Feeding Hands?

Calling all Souls who enjoy cooking and caring for others

For over 30 years, Chalice has helped feed the hungry.  We started with sandwiches and grew to preparing and serving the 1st Tuesday of the month hot meals at Calvary for often over 100 men, women, and children. When the pandemic shut down the communal meal program, we stepped up with boxed to-go dinners for Harbor House to give to the unhoused.

Now we need more help!  Do you enjoy cooking, or coordinating, and sharing our abundance with people without homes?  Then this activity might be for you!

We need a team to share the leadership!  There are a number of dedicated helpers and we hope to be back in the Chalice kitchen soon.  But coordination is key!  Please help Feeding Hands live on!  For more information contact: mrwi...@hotmail.com or (805) 204-6052.

Chalice Lighting

To start your day, a meeting, or before a meal

Committed to Respond

By: Lynn Harrison

Committed to respond to the call of a wounded world…

We join together this day with loving hearts, hands and minds.

Embracing the interconnected web of water, air and earth…

We light a fire of sustaining hope, ever bright with love and justice.

May we bring forth this day new wisdom, strength and courage

To create a new world not of wealth, but well-being.

A world of new peace and abundance for all.

As we give thanks for this earth, our shared and singular home,

May we dedicate ourselves to its ongoing care.

Rising to the calls deep within us, and all around us…

May we respond today and always with courage and with love.

We light our chalice with a commitment to respond to healing our beautiful planet.

with

Ray Archuleta

and

Diana Lovejoy

Kiss the Ground is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that reveals a viable solution to our climate crisis: by regenerating the world’s soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems, and create abundant food supplies.

Ray Archuleta is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist with the Soil Science Society of America and has over 30 years experience as a Soil Conservationist, Water Quality Specialist, and conservation Agronomist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  After retiring from the NRCS, he co-founded the Soil Health Academy, which teaches producers how to improve soil health through practical regenerative agricultural principles.

Diana Lovejoy has been organically growing her veggies for forty years.  She is the President of the Organic Garden Club of Ventura County, the Vice President of Las Flores Community Garden, and authored Organic Container Gardening for All.

Chalice Annual Auction

Dear Friends –

Mark your calendar for the Chalice annual auction! The 2021 Auction will be virtual, with a silent online auction from May 9-22  and a virtual live auction event on May 22, from 6:30-8:00pm.  The live auction will require no special software, it will be accessible from a web browser.  Register for the live auction at https://tinyurl.com/ChaliceUU

As always, we welcome items and experiences for the auction from our members, friends and supporters.  We’re looking for wonderful, creative items and experiences to tempt and delight our members and friends – all to benefit Chalice.  We are seeking donations of unique offerings and opportunities that people cannot find anywhere else, including virtual experiences offered by Chalice members and friends. Themed gift baskets are always popular!  Delivered dinners, and even meals or events to be offered for a later date after social distancing requirements.  All kinds of experiences are welcome as long as it allows for people to be safe  and comfortable knowing that they will be there when current restrictions have been lifted.  To submit auction donations please click this link: https://www.chaliceuu.org/auction-donation/

Our theme this year is I Heard it Through the Grapevine!  with a nod to the great song by the legendary Sam Cook.  We encourage everyone to get into the spirit by providing the Auction committee with photos of how you have survived and thrived during the time of social distancing, for a musical photo montage of experiences of our members and friends during the Year of Covid.  Email your photos to auc...@chaliceuu.org.

If you have any questions about the Auction, email auc...@chaliceuu.org.

I Heard it through the Grapevine!  Be there or be square!  Invite your friends, family, and neighbors!

Calling all Goddess loving people.  Join us as we honor and rejoice in her creations’ passion to blossom and bear fruit with ritual, meditation, song and dance.

Save California Solar

Utilities like PG&E want to stop California’s solar progress. Don’t give up our solar power!

Right now, a program called net metering is helping to expand the benefits of rooftop to more people and communities in California. Through net metering, people get credits on their own electricity bill if their rooftop solar puts electricity back on the power grid, making solar more affordable for them and adding more clean energy for the local communities.

Utilities want to drastically reduce that credit and add expensive new fees on rooftop solar customers in order to stop competition and secure their monopoly that allows them to keep raising rates.

ACT NOW

Join us in telling Governor Newsom to stand up to the utilities! Sign the petition: https://www.savecaliforniasolar.org
