“Earth’s Greatest Enemy”
Film Screening and Discussion
Discussion Moderator: Cindy Piester

Unitarian Universalists for a Just Economic Community –
Peace, Equity, and Climate Task Force, Chair; Venturans for a Just Palestine; Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom; Veterans for Peace – National Climate Crisis & Militarism Project; VFP VC
TONIGHT Friday, July 17th – 6:30 p.m. PT (In person* and online)
Please note earlier start time!
Five years in the making, this film combines investigative journalism, stunning visuals, and little discussed stories from impacted communities, EARTH’S GREATEST ENEMY challenges audiences to rethink the hidden costs of a global military empire and its planetary consequences. Provocative, urgent, and eye-opening, this is an honest and timely film documentary that you will not see in mainstream theaters. It will change how you see both the military and environmentalism.
Lifelong activist Cindy Piester moderates our discussion.
Co-sponsored by Chalice Climate Action Team
& Veterans For Peace Ventura County

Reverend Nica Eaton
Reclaiming Reverence
We become what we revere. In a world competing constantly for our attention and allegiance, what is truly worthy of our devotion?
Together we'll explore how reclaiming reverence can awaken us to the sacredness already woven through everyday life.
As you enter on Sunday, we invite you to come in keeping silence.
There will be time for conversation afterwards, or in the lounge,
but today we're experimenting with something our culture rarely gives us:
a place for quiet, peace, and inner listening.
The registration link below will allow you to register for the service with your preferred email address. A service link will then be sent to that email. This service link will be active 5 minutes prior to the service. As an added benefit, you’ll be sent a recording of the service after it is done streaming!

To start your day, a meeting, or before a meal
We join our voices in a holy communion of mind and heart, dedicated to the promises that bind us in compassion, one with another. In this hour we light the flame that signals our intention to find the sacred in every living thing.
~ Robin F. Gray

Hello UUTHEVOTE Team,
Thank you for bringing your complete cards last Sunday. We stamped over 700 at the Stamping Party!
Our Stamping Parties continue. Please bring all complete cards on Sunday; we will stamp them upstairs in Room 1 after the service.
This should include most of the remaining Florida EVP cards. If you find you will not be able to complete your Florida cards by the following Sunday, July 26, please let us know. We can help and have them redistributed.
Postcards for our next state, Virginia, will be available this Sunday! These have a September mail date.
Pamela has returned from New York, and we will both see you Sunday!
In Friendship,
Pamela & Jill

Saturday, August 8 - 5:30 pm Potluck, 6:30 pm Discussion
with
Andrew Ceco
Andrew will talk about his journey from a birthright citizenship trip to Israel to becoming a member of IfNotNow. IfNotNow is a grassroots organization campaigning to stop the flow of US weapons to Israel and calling for “a thriving future for all Palestinians and Israelis.”

In June, many of you joined us in Sacramento to help move our priority bills along in the legislative process. Your advocacy made a real difference and together we helped ensure that faith voices were heard in Sacramento.
Now, we're heading back, virtually, to meet with legislators and their staff to provide updates on where our priority bills stand in the legislative process and to encourage continued support to get these bills over the finish line!
Please let us know if you can join and we will schedule you meetings with your own representatives – so likely just two meetings. They will take place between 10am and 3pm so please sign up if you can be available during that time.
We hope hope to see you for our Virtual Advocacy Day:
Tuesday, August 11th
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
On Zoom
Whether you joined us in June, or last year, or if this will be your first advocacy event, we'll provide everything you need to participate, including training, talking points, and support throughout the day.
To participate you will need to Register here.
Please register no later than August 4th
People of faith have a vital role to play in advocating for policies that protect our communities, care for creation, and ensure a just future for all. We hope you'll lend your voice with us on August 11th.
