Be Gay, Do Crime!
The phrase "Be Gay, Do Crime" has been around for some time, coined as an anti-authoritarian slogan promoting queer liberation and protest. Since the phrase first appeared as graffiti in Marseilles, France in 2016, it and its accompanying memes have been embraced by members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. What does this phrase mean in today's world, when more people are coming out as being trans or queer, yet some parts of society are (still) endeavoring to make being LGBTQ+ illegal (again)? And how can LGBTQ+ folks still find joy in being their authentic selves in such an environment?
