Dear all senior coxes,
I hope you are all doing well and recovering from bumps. I am a cox at Churchill College, and this summer I'm conducting a research project investigating the linguistic choices of coxes, specifically whether there are differences in the way coxes communicate
for open and women's crews.
To do this, I'm looking to collect recordings from a range of senior coxes across different contexts, including both training sessions and pieces.
If you're willing to participate, I would be very grateful if you could send me a few recordings, along with a brief description of:
-
Your coxing experience (particularly whether you have more experience with open or women's crews);
-
The context of each recording (training or piece);
-
And whether the crew is an open or women's crew.
All recordings will be transcribed and fully anonymised, and any information about your experience or the recording context will be also anonymised before analysis.
I have attached a participant information sheet and consent form, which provide further details about the project. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you so much in advance for your time and support.
Best wishes,
Catherine.
