Notes from the Umpires
The towpath is starting to get muddy, with rain forecast tomorrow. Please ensure bank parties have mudguards and crews are appropriately dressed for conditions.
A thanks to umpires who have effectively managed crews and traffic following a checkmate today.
A further thanks to the umpires at top finish for their communication with and management of river traffic.
Crews are responsible for their bank party's actions and size, and must brief them appropriately. This includes bank parties who join during a race, which we discourage. Fines for misbehaviour of bank parties will be applied to the relevant crew.
Crews must count down from 10 for their practice start at the Plough. Crews counting down from more than 10 will be fined from tomorrow onwards. This is to ensure we can keep to time and allow later divisions to have practice starts too.
Crews must not delay in rowing down. This is also contributing to later divisions having practice starts disallowed.
Bank parties have no right of unimpeded passage on the towpath either on the row down or during races.
Abusive behaviour towards other users of the towpath is completely unacceptable and will result in severe penalties.
