Dear Captains and Boatmen,
In response to questions, CUCBC would like to clarify that our interpretation is that a senior crew is:
- An VIII with a senior cox with at least six senior rowers, and up to two competent novices who can promptly follow all of the instructions given to them
- An VIII with a novice cox with eight senior rowers, including an experienced stroke who can assist the cox, and a competent bow pair who can take matters into their own hands to avoid collisions if required
- A IV that contains all senior rowers, and may have a novice cox provided there is an experienced stroke who can assist the cox, and a competent bow pair who can take matters into their own hands to avoid collisions if required
Additionally, regardless of the time they boat, all senior crews should be capable of rowing to the Railway Bridge with minimal coxing and no coaching, and should be capable of immediately rowing with “no less than half crew at full slide”, though crews which boat after 07:30 or after the first 15 minutes after lighting down respectively are of course excused from these restrictions.
Very best,
David
