Cantabs is looking for coaches to help us coach a small group from Stepehen Perse school starting almost immediately.

The group range from complete beginners (as of September) to more experienced rowers that can go out in sculls. Numbers are up to 12 students per session. Unfortunately, we do not know which, or how many, students, we will have until they turn up each week. We aim to have everyone capable of rowing in quads, and racing in quads, by the end of the academic year.

The sessions are coached from the CRA boathouse using Cantabs equipment: namely virus’s, small boats, quads and octuples. The sessions last from 14:30 to 16:00 during school terms. Given the students mixed abilities we are hoping to have 3 coaches per session.

For insurance reasons every session needs to be led by a BR qualified coach. We have two volunteers who have coached these sessions for several years, one of whom is qualified and can lead the sessions if required.

We are looking for two additional coaches to add to the squad, one of whom will need to be BR qualified. The extra coaches do not have to be available every week, but we would like them to be present for the majority of the sessions.

The school is willing to pay the coaches, and we are proposing a fee of £22.50 per hour for the qualified coach and £18.75 per hour for the unqualified coach with the sessions lasting 1.5 hours.
