We are pleased to announce registration is open for this year's
QERGS 2024 to be held in Fitzpatrick Hall, Queens' College on
3 November 2024!
QErgs is the second largest indoor rowing competition in the UK giving Cambridge rowing novices their first competitive opportunity of the season in an exciting all day event hosting approximately 1000 rowers across all Cambridge boat clubs. This year, we
will continue for the third year our mixed seniors category as well as expand our juniors category inviting J16 juniors from all town clubs and local schools.
Format

Teams of 8 rowers will compete in an 8x500m relay

There will be two Novice categories (Men’s and Women’s) and one mixed Senior category

Every team will compete in an initial heat, with the
fastest three teams from each novice division progressing to their finals, alongside the three fastest lower boats.

These finals to determine the winner of the Novice Men and Women categories will occur in the early evening after all divisions have been completed.

The winner of the Senior and Junior categories will be determined by the fastest time across the respective divisions
Price and Payment

The cost shall be £85 per crew entered, with a £5 charge for any additional t-shirts requested beyond the 8 for each competitor in the team.

Due to the advance purchase of T-shirts and supplies to support the event, we, unfortunately, will not be able to honour reimbursement to clubs who cancel after the close of the registration deadline.

Payment will be taken by bank transfer to the bank account listed below, with payment reference ‘[college name] QERGS’ I.E. DowningQERGS (Entries are only finalized once payment has been received)

Eligibility

A Novice crew is one in which no rower has rowed in any competitions for the three years before October of the current year and has no competitive points as defined by British Rowing.

Exemptions are on an individual basis and at the discretion of the Erg Competition Presidents. Please contact us if this applies to members of your crew.

Senior crews shall be mixed crews (four men, four women) from up to two colleges (e.g. 4 women from an all-women’s college combined with the men of another college). Alumni, college staff members, and coaches are also welcome to compete, but the same rules
apply.

Club Juniors category will be comprised of men’s and women’s crews of all eight participants meeting British Rowing category age standards for J16. Crews of eight may be mixed from multiple clubs if club availability is limited

QErgs follows a policy of self-identification. As such, rowers are invited to compete in the gender category they most identify with.
This year we will also livestream the event for all participants to enjoy and share with their family and friends! More details will be available soon on our website
