Hi,

I would like to ask all members of the Pack to take a brief moment to read this important announcement.

District Recognition

The Dan Beard District of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council serves Lackawanna and Wayne counties, along with parts of Pike, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties, encompassing 15 school districts.

Each year, the district recognizes two or three adult leaders with the District Award of Merit.

The District Award of Merit is a prestigious honor presented by Scouting America councils to registered adult volunteers who provide outstanding and noteworthy service to youth at the district level. It recognizes service that goes above and beyond the expected duties of a volunteer’s position, typically over a period of years.

This year, Pack 126 is proud to share that Assistant Cubmaster Matt Flannigan has been selected as one of only two district volunteers to receive this award for 2026.

Congratulations, Matt!

Leader Recognitions

Beyond this incredible honor, some of our other dedicated leaders are also being recognized. Every adult leader in our Pack is required to complete Youth Protection Training annually, Weather Preparedness Training biannually, and position-specific training for roles such as Den Leader, Committee Member, or Cubmaster. Remarkably, every member of our leadership team has completed their required training, something not commonly seen across all scouting units nationwide.

Additionally, many of our leaders have gone above and beyond, taking supplemental training through the council, online courses, and in-group sessions within our Pack. As a result of their dedication, I am honored to announce that the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council is recognizing the following Pack Leaders with their Training Awards:

  • Amy Kintner

  • Christine Healey

  • Katie Arnold

  • Nathaniel Frissell

  • Ryan McCawley

  • Sherri Eble

Den Leader Training Awards

In addition to the training awards, the council recognizes Den Leaders for their unwavering commitment to the program and the youth they serve. Leaders who have taken specialized training, served as a Den Leader for an extended period, and demonstrated a deep understanding of the scouting program are honored with the Den Leader Training Award.

We are proud to announce that the following Den Leaders are receiving this prestigious award:

  • Carina Havenstrite

  • Katie Arnold

  • Rachel Frissell

  • Tom Havenstrite

Congratulations to all award recipients, and thank you for your dedication to Scouting! Your efforts make a lasting impact on our Pack and the youth we serve. If you see one of these leaders, please take a moment to thank them for their extraordinary commitment to the youth of Pack 126.
