Youth Safety / Personal Safety
Scouting America prioritizes youth safety. All adult leaders complete annual training on working with Scouts, creating safe environments, and avoiding inappropriate situations. This year, all leaders in Pack 126 successfully completed Scouting America’s Safeguarding Youth Training and other position-specific courses, including event planning, outdoor safety, and weather preparedness.
To ensure Scouts’ safety beyond Scouting activities, BSA requires Scouts to watch the Protecting Yourself Rules video tailored to their age. These videos help raise awareness about appropriate and inappropriate behavior.
I watched the video with my child, and it led to meaningful discussions about safety in Scouting, school, and other areas.
If you have not completed this requirement with your scout since September 2025, please do so.
To access the video, scan the QR code for your Scout’s rank or check the handbook for details. After watching, inform your Scout’s Den Leader to mark it as completed.
Rechartering
You may have received a notice stating that your Scout is not registered. Please rest assured, this is not the case.
Pack 126 has already paid the national individual scout registration fee for all Scouts who registered since September and whose membership would have expired before December 31, 2025. A Scout is considered registered once their payment and paperwork are submitted to the Council Office.
Our pack completed the unit rechartering process on December 18, 2025. The NEPA Council has until March 1, 2025, to submit the overall Council Charter to the National Office.
Unfortunately, the new national system is currently sending automated emails and text messages in error. Units across the country, including ours, have raised concerns about these incorrect notices.
Please disregard any “not registered” messages you receive. Your Scout is fully registered and in good standing.
Thank you for your understanding!
