Museum Technician – Part time, onsite (Washington, DC)

Cadence Group is seeking a Museum Technician to support the care, documentation, and preservation of artifact and archival collections. This role assists with handling, cataloging, storage, environmental monitoring, and digital documentation while working closely with museum curators. The technician also contributes to exhibition preparation, research support, and digital asset management in alignment with museum best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Handle and process artifacts and archival materials following museum protocols
• Support cataloging, documentation, and data entry, including PastPerfect migration
• Monitor environmental conditions and assist with IPM activities
• Produce digital photography following FADGI standards
• Maintain secure, organized storage areas and follow chain‑of‑custody procedures
• Assist with annual inventory and creation of archival housing
• Manage digital assets and maintain cross‑referenced collection records

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, Art History, Anthropology, History, Library Sciences, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of museum, archive, federal museum (preferred), or library experience
• Skilled in artifact handling, cataloging, preservation practices, and file management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; PastPerfect experience preferred
• Experience with digital imaging and photography
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., use ladders, and work in varied environments
