v5 Admin password

I'm sure I'm missing something but I can't find a way to get the 'postgres' admin password for a new cluster.
I know that I can 'exec' into the database container to run commands as 'postgres' but that doesn't fit my use case. I have scripts that need to be able to run against any postgres deployment, (eg. AWS/Azure) not just PGO.
Looks like the password is blank but that causes it's own problems. Am I missing something or trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?

This is addressed by this patch and will be available in the next release:
The "postgres" superuser is managed by PGO, but you can create your own superusers at bootstrap time once that patch is available.
As you mention, in the interim you can exec into the database container.

As an addendum, the "postgres" user will be manageable in the next release. A clip from the release notes:
The built-in `postgres` superuser can now be managed the same way as other users. Specifying it in `PostgresCluster.spec.users` will give it a password, allowing it to connect over the network.
