Dear colleagues,

With the Open Science Retreat the ZBW brings together international Open Science supporters from different stakeholder groups. Again, we are planning two sessions where we will dive deeply into the topics that are of burning interest to us all.

We cordially invite you to join our forth Open Science Retreat that will be held virtually on November 1, 2022 (14:30-16:30 CET) and November 2, 2022 (14:30-16:30 CET).

It is dedicated to the theme:

Economic actors in the context of Open Science – The role of the private sector in the field of Open Science

Besides common scientific stakeholders, commercial players are increasingly positioning themselves in the Open Science movement, adapting and expanding their service portfolio accordingly. We cannot yet see how the activities of these scientific and commercial actors intertwine - technically, in terms of content or in terms of requirements. Despite all the known problems and challenges that exist in such constellations, in the 4th Open Science Retreat we want to explicitly shed a light on those cases that work. We put a focus on best practices at the interface between public and private stakeholders in the diverse Open Science dimensions - in particular in those beyond Open Access.

You are an Open Science advocate and would like to exchange your experiences and ideas with a group of 30 like-minded international Open Science enthusiasts from completely different domains?

Then apply now for free for this unique networking event here: openscienceretreat.zbw.eu

Deadline for application: October 24, 2022

The Open Science Retreat is an interactive event. Participants are expected to commit to active contribution during the entire retreat. The number of participants is limited (random selection, however, balanced with regard to geographical distribution and diversity aspects).

We are looking forward to an exciting retreat – be part of it!

One big THANK YOU at the end: Thanks to all of you who participated in our survey on future Open Science Retreat topics - we received 165 answers! We have evaluated and clustered the topics. You can find a short summary on the Open Science Retreat website. The topic selection of future retreats will be based on these results.

Best,
Guido
