Hello Cindy,
Josh here, from SmartSocial.com.
December is here, so first, a big thank you to the 35,000 parents who are showing up, asking questions, and doing the work to keep their child safe online.
We have found that around the holidays each kid is begging for extra screen time and new devices, so we pulled together quick, practical tips you can use right away.
We added some key-takeaways from the events in green below if you want to learn from our experts in this email.
We are thankful you are part of the SmartSocial.com community and hope to see you at these next events!
Happy Holidays, Josh Ochs Founder, SmartSocial.com

Reduce Arguments & Build Positive Digital Habits |
|
|
“I think one of the problems we make as adults is treating cell phones and social media as a necessary marriage, and it doesn’t have to be the case. Middle school is an appropriate age for a phone, but maybe not for social media.”
This is the sound advice given by a school district leader in our upcoming event, “7 Quick Tips for Healthier Screen Time: Reduce Arguments & Build Positive Digital Habits.”
Join us to learn more tips to help turn screen time arguments into easy conversations for your family. |

Roblox & Minecraft Safety Night |
|
|
If your child is on Roblox or Minecraft, you need to learn how the games are played, the REAL dangers, and the protection options you have.
Many parents are surprised to learn how much chatting with strangers, trading with actual currency, and exposure to violent or adult content are experienced by their young children. Our #1 tip for parents when it comes to Roblox is to use parental controls to turn off the option for their child to chat with others. This severely limits the opportunity for strangers to approach your child within the game. Join this LIVE parent event, “Roblox & Minecraft Safety Night: Understand the REAL Dangers & Guide Your Child with Confidence,” to see what is really happening inside these games and how you can make them safer for your kids to play.

AI for Your Student’s Success |
|
|
Many parents are unsure where the line is between encouraging their child to use AI as a helpful tool and using it as a shortcut that could get in the way of real learning or hide areas where kids need support.
Here’s an example of one of the AI prompts you can use from this event: “Pretend you are an expert at morning routines with a background as a life coach, nutritionist and morning person. Help me to become a morning person by creating a morning routine in a timeline. These are the tasks I need to complete before school: exercise, take the dog out for a walk, shower, get ready, eat breakfast. My goal is to be 5 minutes early for school each day. I wake up at 6:30 and need to ride my bike to school at 7:30 to be on time.”
Our LIVE Parent event, “Safe and Successful: How Teens & Families Are Using AI,” is here to help you learn how students can use AI in healthy, ethical ways. |
