The conda defaults channel has had  the Cornice package for quite some time -- I see versions 2.4 -- 3.6. But none since then.

3.6 was put on Anaconda.org 14 days ago.

However, 3.6 was released by the Cornice project over two years ago, and version 5.2 was released April 2021.

Is this going to get updated? or do I need to go make a conda-forge feedstock?

Exactly -- if it's going to be on the conda main channel, it should be reasonably up to date.

If main isn't going to be maintained, I can make a conda-forge recipe, which maybe I should do anyway.

That would be great if you can do that! Really, I prefer the FOSS route. I don't use the Anaconda or Windows channels at all :)
