Hi Numba Users,

We're in the midst of upgrading Numba and llvmlite to LLVM 3.7.1, and we are finding that we might need to raise our minimum OS X version due to LLVM compatibility restrictions.  For quite some time, llvmlite and LLVM have been buildable on OS X 10.7, but now it looks like LLVM 3.7 will require OS X version 10.9 and later.

There might be ways we could maintain compatibility with earlier OS X, but it isn't clear how this is supposed to work given how aggressively Apple pushes their dev enviroments toward newer OS releases.  If anyone out there needs OS X support before 10.9, could you let us know?  We'll keep investigating on our end.

Thanks!

(sad face) I'm still running OSX 10.6. Is there any version of
llvmlite/numba that runs on 10.6?

This comment / disapproval is aimed at Apple far more than Continuum
Analytics, but it's more than frustrating to be forced towards
upgrades when my OS is working fine and I hear lots of grumbling from
fellow devs about annoyances in newer versions of OSX. (the 10.5 ->
10.6 upgrade made sense to me but I've resisted since.)

If anyone else out there has experience with OSX 10.6 and later
versions, and could soothe my fears about upgrading, please reply
privately.
