Anaconda-navigator not launching

I recently updated anaconda and attempted to install the navigator after uninstalling launcher and it won't open. Attempting to launch from the terminal gives this error. Any ideas on how to fix this?

This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "cocoa"
in "".

Updating conda and reinstalling the navigator did not work.

reinstalling Anaconda (backup old installation and download new installer) worked for me. Updating/reinstalling from conda did not work.
